Quilt Identification Day

Saturday, March 21st, 2026 from 11am to 3pm

Learn more about your quilt’s history at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles Quilt Identification Day. Staff and trained volunteers examine quilts and offer information about patterns, styles, fabrics and estimated age. You will receive a written documentation form, care and conservation guidelines and a documentation label for each quilt.


We will not appraise or address issues of value at this event.

Time per person: each appointment is 20 minutes per person

Pricing: $25 per quilt / $20 for members (limit of three quilts per person)

Ultra Textural Weaving on a Unique Substrate with Vicki Assegued

Saturday, April 4th, 2026 from 11am to 4pm

In this highly innovative and fun workshop, you’ll learn many techniques for weaving, knotting, wrapping, tying, sewing, coiling and twisting of fiber materials to build your dynamic and stunning piece to hang on the wall. The surprising and versatile foundation for this weaving is plastic fencing, which opens the creative journey into much more than weaving. You’ll also make fringe, tassels and pompoms to add texture and delight.

Yoga at the Museum with Sarah Wilhelm

April 12th & May 10th, 2026 10-11am

Join us for a rejuvenating and peaceful morning of yoga at the Museum! Whether you're a seasoned yogi or a beginner, Sarah Wilhelm will guide you through a series of gentle poses and mindfulness practices, all within the inspiring environment of our Museum. All ages and levels welcome, we can't wait to see you!

APRIL AND MAY will feature Chair Yoga—accessible to all!!

"Kris Jensen, Director of the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, has woven together a range of experiences in taking the helm of one of the Bay Area’s most niche and quietly radical museums. Born and raised in San Jose, Jensen grew up in a family of artists, but came in contact with the realities of food insecurity and housing instability after his mother passed away when he was still very young. Jensen’s father, a folk artist and interior designer, was accepting of all lifestyles at a time when that was uncommon, and frequently had friends from various communities at his house.
