Composing in Small Spaces: Creating Original Textile Art Cards with Mirka Knaster

  • San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles 520 South 1st Street San Jose, CA, 95113 (map)

Composing in a limited space has many creative advantages for experienced as well as new art-makers. As an invitation to play with materials on hand (no shopping!), we can amaze ourselves with stuff we might otherwise toss. Working on a small scale can help break through creative blocks and stimulate new ideas to experiment with, all without performance-anxiety or a major investment of time and money.  One mini-fiber art piece (textile card) can be the beginning of a series or a way to recycle/reuse/repurpose a stash. Each participant will go home with 1-2 cards that can be finished in class or further elaborated at home. We will cut, fold, layer, arrange, glue, stitch, mark, embellish, and more to complete the composition.
